ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The eggplant-and-teal jerseys took the Anaheim Ducks back to their franchises founding year. The record-setting offensive performance suggested the Ducks mightiest days could be right in front of them. Corey Perry scored two goals, Jonas Hiller made 30 saves, and the Ducks beat Bobby Ryan and the Ottawa Senators 4-1 Sunday night for their fourth straight victory. Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Nick Bonino also scored for the Ducks, who were Mighty again on a throwback night celebrating the 20th anniversary of the franchises 1993 debut. Wearing their colorful original jerseys, the Ducks racked up a franchise-record 56 shots against the Senators, who lost their fourth straight. Anaheim has fielded its share of eye-catching teams over the past two decades, but these Ducks are confident they could be as good as any of them after outscoring their last four opponents 17-6. "Thats the way we want to play," Perry said. "We want to put as many pucks on the net as possible. Good things happen when you do that. If we start like that, were going to be successful. Were going to play that quick game, were going to forecheck, and get better every single game." Anaheim surpassed its previous club record of 54 shots, set in March 2009 against Edmonton. Ottawa also set a franchise record for shots allowed, surpassing the 51 shots yielded twice before. Rookie defenceman Hampus Lindholm had two assists for his first NHL points for the Ducks, who followed up their 6-0 embarrassment of the New York Rangers last Thursday with another demolition of an Eastern Conference team. "I was really proud they came out and did the same thing," Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. "Theyre moving their legs, and its tough to keep up with them right now." Craig Anderson allowed two goals on the Ducks first nine shots before Robin Lehner replaced him just 4:06 into the first period. Lehner stopped 45 shots for the Senators, who yielded 50 shots at the Shark Tank one night earlier. "Its a little bit worse," Ottawa coach Paul MacLean said. "It is two nights in a row. You give up over 50 shots, you hang your goalie out right from the start of the game. Were not very good. We need to go back to square one and find something to hang our hat on. Right now the only thing we have is goaltenders, and we make them work too hard." Hiller improved to 3-0 with several outstanding saves while wearing a throwback mask painted with the Ducks old logo and a cartoon version of Wild Wing, the Ducks mascot. "I felt a little bad for (Lehner)," Hiller said. "Thought it could have been an even higher score." Ryan scored his 150th career goal amid boos from the sellout crowd in his first game back in Anaheim since the Ducks traded the high-scoring forward last summer. The Ducks former No. 2 overall pick had four 30-goal seasons in Anaheim before the club shipped him to Ottawa in an apparent cost-cutting move. Anaheim landed promising forward Jakob Silfverberg, who went scoreless against his former team on his 23rd birthday after scoring four goals in the Ducks first four games. Ryan, who had publicly expressed discontent with the Ducks in the past, was greeted with mostly boos -- even more when he scored late in the first period on a sharp cross-ice pass from Kyle Turris. "We were down 2-0 early," Ryan said. "If you dont change the way you play against a team like that, that is playing pretty well, youre not going to have any success." Anaheim had 11 shots and two goals in the first five minutes alone. Ottawa allowed 24 shots in the first period in Anaheim after yielding 24 in the third period of Saturday nights 3-2 loss in San Jose. Perry scored from the slot just 27 seconds in on a pass from Patrick Maroon, and Getzlaf added another less than four minutes later on a setup from Lindholm. After Ryans goal, Ottawa trailed just 2-1 despite the Ducks 24 shots, a franchise record for a first period. But Lindholm made an exceptional backhand, cross-ice pass to set up Perrys second goal in the second. Bonino put Anaheim up 4-1 when he lost a faceoff to Jean-Gabriel Pageau, yet still controlled the puck and put a snap shot past Lehner. NOTES: RW Stefan Noesen, the other top prospect acquired from Ottawa in the trade for Ryan, has a "significant" injury to his left knee, according to the Ducks. Noesen was on crutches with an immobilizing brace on his knee after the game. ... The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim joined the NHL in 1993 when the Walt Disney Company named its expansion franchise after the Emilio Estevez-starring kids movie released a year earlier. NEW YORK -- Make no mistake about it: Sean Doolittle and the Oakland Athletics are enjoying these wins over the skidding New York Yankees. Yoenis Cespedes homered twice, Josh Donaldson hit a tiebreaking shot in the seventh inning and Oakland overcame a four-run deficit to beat the Yankees 7-4 Wednesday night for its fifth straight victory. The highest-scoring team in the majors this season, the As will go for a three-game sweep Thursday afternoon. They are 12-3 against New York since July 19, 2012. "I think theres the sense of the way we play that we have something to prove," said Doolittle, who earned his seventh save. "Weve got a little bit of a chip on our shoulder, small-market team, and we dont get a ton of national publicity. And when we get a chance to play against the Yankees on a big stage in their ballpark, guys step up." Donaldson connected off Jose Ramirez, who was making his major league debut, and added a pair of infield singles. Cespedes also had three hits to help the As move a season-best 15 games over .500 at 37-22, the best mark in the American League. "We never give up," Cespedes said through a translator. Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits, including an early three-run homer, but the Yankees matched a season worst with their fourth consecutive defeat. Theyve been outscored 21-0 from the seventh inning on during the slide. Derek Jeter made a costly error and New York dropped to 1-5 on a seven-game homestand with its 12th loss in the last 16 at Yankee Stadium. Jesse Chavez (5-3) hung around for six innings, long enough to get the win when his teammates rallied. Dan Otero got Brian McCann on a weak grounder with runners at the corners to protect a one-run lead in the seventh. Otero also worked a scoreless eighth and Doolittle got three quick outs to extend his career-best shutout streak to 16 1-3 innings. "Our bullpen down there is so deep and so well-rounded out that we really dont have a hole," Chavez said. "The guys come in and they attack, and I think thats why theyre so good in those situations." Cespedes started Oaklands comeback with a leadoff homer to centre in the fourth. Jed Lowrie hit a deep sacrifice fly in the fifth, and Yankees starter Vidal Nuno was pulled one out shy of qualifying for a win.dddddddddddd He left with a 4-2 lead after 92 pitches. Cespedes hit another leadoff shot in the sixth, this one off Matt Daley barely clearing the short porch in right. Derek Norris reached on Jeters throwing error from shortstop and scored the tying run on Alberto Callaspos long sacrifice fly. "We had our chances to add on and we werent able to do it," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "The guys are doing everything they can, but right now we just arent getting it done." Just called up from the minors, Ramirez (0-1) entered in the seventh. He retired his first batter but then gave up Donaldsons 16th homer on his fifth major league pitch. The drive to left field gave the As a 5-4 advantage. "I was a little nervous," Ramirez said through a translator. "I wasnt really thinking about pitching tonight but I knew the chance would be there because of our bullpen situation." Oakland has gone deep in 12 consecutive games, hitting 22 homers during that span. "Anytime you fall behind 4-0, you dont really expect to win these games even though you might think it," Otero said. "Our offence, its only a matter of time sometimes before they break out, and they showed it tonight again." The AL West leaders added two insurance runs in the ninth on a hit batter and a sacrifice fly against Wade LeBlanc in his Yankees debut. Craig Gentry made a sensational catch in left-centre to rob Gardner of at least a double in the first. Moments earlier, Donaldson hit a trickler toward third that stopped rolling right on the line just inches from the bag. The slugger clapped his hands emphatically at first base, drawing chuckles from teammates in the dugout. "That ball didnt even get to third base," he said. "Its just one of those things where you really appreciate a hit like that." NOTES: Gentry started in place of CF Coco Crisp, given a night off to rest his nagging neck. ...
